Until now, I have always created my custom meta boxes using this great PHP class. It’s nothing wrong with it, but when I first got my hands on the Advanced Custom Fields plugin, I was blown away. Not only is it extremely powerful, it is also very, very good looking and easy too use.
After building dozens and dozens of WordPress sites I have come up with sort of a boilerplate-functions-file I use as a starting point when developing a new theme. In this post I’ll share some of the snippets included in that boilerplate to help you boost your template production.
The work on WordPress 3.4 Alpha is already in development and will probably see the light of day sometime in 2012. I’ve created a list of some of the features/improvements I would love to see in this new version.
WordPress comes with something called conditional tags, which let’s you change how content is displayed depending on what conditions that are met. For example, you can check if the user is on the frontpage, or if she is logged in or not.
